Amasya is connected to the neighbouring cities with the State Road. It is on the state road control stops no 100-17, 100-18, 100-19 ( the Europe-Persia International Transit Road ). Like the residences in the city in general, %90 of the villages have asphalt roads. There is no transport problem at any time.

Approximately 140 buses come to and go from Amasya Bus Terminal in a day. Between Amasya and neighbouring cities such as Samsun and Çorum, it is possible to find a vehicle every hour.

Railway

Amasya is on the Samsun-Sivas railway, 261 km from Sivas and 130 km from Samsun. There are 2 big stations (Amasya, Hacıbayram) and 6 stations (Kızılca, Kayabaşı, Eryatağı, Boğazköy, Suluova, Hacıbayram).

Air Transport

The nearest airport is in Samsun, 130km from the city. The efforts to open the military airport in Merzifon to civil flights are under way.

Amasya Museum was first established in 1925 as a store in medrese building, a part of II. Beyazid Külliyesi, by bringing together only a few archaeological artifacts and mummies.

Later , the artifacts got increased in number and as a result of the need for displaying them, it was moved to Gok medrese in 1962, one of the monumental structures of the Seljukian Period.

It moved to its modern building of our day on 22nd March 1977 and opened to visitors on 14th June 1980.

The museum has 23.476 items including archaeological, ethnographic coins, official seal, handwritings and mummies belonging to 12 different civilizations beginning from Kalkolitic Age to Bronze Age such as Hittities, Urartu, Frig, Persian, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman periods. With Hazeranlar Museum House and King Rock Tombs in addition to these artifacts, it plays an important role in the culture and the tourism of our country as the most modern museum of the region.

Open Air Exhibition (garden)

Stone structures of Hittitie, Helenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Ilhanli, Seljuk and Ottoman periods are displayed in the garden to the west of the museum.

Mummies

Mummies in our museum are displayed in the tomb of Seljuk Sultan I. Mesud in the garden of the museum.

There are eight mummies. Thought to be İşbuğa Nuyin, Cumudar İzzettin Mehmet, Pervane Bey, his wife and his sons and daughters, the mummies belong to the people who were once on duty as Nazır and Emir when İlhanlı State was the ruling power in Anatolia in the 14th century.

Hazeran Mansion which was used as a museum- house- Etnography museum was expropriated by monuments and museums’ administration then It was restored.

Totally 984 etnographich remains have been echiniting in the Hazeran mansion. Dresses , carpets, rugs, kitchen onjects that were used in the daily activities og mansion’s people and alos women’s ornaments take part in among these values.

Among the exhibition of etnographic remains, carpets with inscriptions, folk dresses, silver ornaments and golden hand-works which are the reglextion of that period have a special importance. The top flats are used as museum-house but the basement is used an art galery.

The local museum is consisted of the historical remainings (archealogical and ethnographical) and the coins which belong to the Hellenistic age, Rome Empire, Constantine, Seljukian and Ottoman Empire. Moreover; on original wood chest, a door of tomb and original documents of a foundation that were taken from a ceremony place then dated in 18th century are echibited in the museum.
